Skiing recruiting questions
How to get recruited for college skiing, what to send coaches and how AthleticScholar works.
How do I get recruited for college skiing?
Email the coaches at programs that fit you. Lead with your discipline, FIS points and race results, include race runs from recent events, and follow up after a week and again after your next race. Most recruits contact 30 to 60 programs across more than one division.
What is the best skiing recruiting website?
The best recruiting website is the one that actually gets you in front of coaches. Profile sites wait for coaches to find you. AthleticScholar emails 316 college skiing coaches for you from your own Gmail and follows up automatically, for $30/month after a 7-day free trial.
How many college skiing programs are there?
There are 127 college skiing programs: 35 D1, 20 D2, 58 D3 and 12 NAIA. Together they have 316 coaches.
What are the top college skiing programs?
The most popular college skiing programs include Stanford University, University of Colorado Boulder, University of Utah, Boston College and Tulane University.
Which states have the most college skiing programs?
New York (7), Massachusetts (7) and Maine (6) have the most college skiing programs.
What should I put in an email to a college skiing coach?
Your grad year, your discipline, FIS points and race results, your GPA and race runs from recent events. Put your most important numbers in the subject line and say why that program interests you.
How do I find a college skiing coach's email?
Coaches' emails are usually listed in each school's athletics staff directory. AthleticScholar has verified emails for 316 college skiing coaches, so you can message them without looking each one up.
When should I start emailing college skiing coaches?
Many recruits start in their freshman or sophomore year of high school. You can email a coach at any age, though NCAA rules limit when Division I and Division II coaches can reply, so starting early puts you on their list before those dates.
What GPA do you need to play college skiing?
To compete in NCAA Division I you need at least a 2.3 GPA in 16 core courses, and Division II requires at least a 2.2. Division III, NAIA and junior college programs set their own academic standards, so check with each school.
How much do skiing recruiting services cost?
Recruiting services often charge $1,000 or more for a package. AthleticScholar is $30/month after a 7-day free trial, with no contract, and you choose every program you contact.
Do Division III skiing programs offer scholarships?
No. Division III schools don't offer athletic scholarships, but most athletes there receive academic or need-based aid. Division I, Division II, NAIA and junior college programs can offer athletic scholarships.
